Procedures for Granting Entry Visas to Foreign Labor

A procedure explaining how entry visas to Iraq are facilitated for the investor and the non-Iraqi workers of a licensed project, through the Basrah Investment Commission's coordination with the relevant authorities, pursuant to the guarantees provided to investors by the Investment Law. These facilitations are granted with due regard to the priority of employing and training Iraqi labor.

Target audience: Licensed companies, foreign investors, and non-Iraqi workers

• The project must hold a valid investment license

• Qualified Iraqi labor for the required specializations must be unavailable

• Commitment to the priority of employing, training, and qualifying Iraqi labor

• An official letter from the company requesting facilitation of entry visas

• A copy of the valid investment license

• A schedule of the non-Iraqi workers' names, specializations, and nationalities, with copies of their passports attached (the Commission is to be contacted to obtain the schedule template)

• An undertaking that the company will employ the workers exclusively on the project and that they will not abscond (the Commission is to be contacted to obtain the undertaking template)

• A letter of authorization in the name of the person dealing with the Commission and the relevant authorities, with a copy of the sponsor's identity documents

• A letter addressed to the Commission from the Social Security Department confirming that the project is covered by the Labor and Social Security Law
