Amending the license to expand the project and increase its design capacity
A procedure explaining how to expand a licensed investment project (increasing design capacity or widening the project's scope) by amending the investment license and obtaining an administrative expansion order from the Commission. The imported assets required for the expansion enjoy exemption from duties if the expansion increases the project's design capacity.
Target audience: Owners of existing licensed investment projects
The project must hold a valid investment license and be actually established
The expansion must increase the project's design capacity
The expansion assets must be brought into Iraq within (3) years of notifying the Commission
An expansion request letter issued by the company
A copy of the valid investment license
A feasibility study for the proposed expansion showing the increase in design capacity
The engineering drawings for the expansion
A letter certifying the existing project's completion percentage, issued by an accredited consultancy office
A letter of authorization in the name of the person dealing with the Commission
The company's authorized representative submits the expansion request and its attachments for referral to the Technical Section.
Reviewing the request, verifying the increase in design capacity, and certifying the current completion percentage.
Amending the license to include the expansion under an administrative order issued by the Commission.
The imported assets required for the expansion are exempted from duties in accordance with the exemptions procedure.
Exemption from duties for imported assets required to expand the project if this increases design capacity, provided they are brought in within (3) years of notifying the Commission.
